OK, for a going-on-nearly-3-years review of the Workcycles Fr8 (one of the posts keeping this blog alive)...
This bike has still been my main ride to work four miles away. I have occasionally used it for its more specialist purpose: moving lots of stuff around.
I like this bike more than ever! I've learned how to do some basic adjustments on it, which has come in handy. Once I figured out how to defeat the nasty goat-head thorns we have (I had my LBS take care of that problem), it's really been quite maintenance-free. Smooth, quiet, not aggressive, which all suits me quite well. Still comfortable. I find I use gears 2-6 quite often, but I do occasionally get up into 8 and down to 1.
It's quite stable under load, which is also great. Now that my children are old enough to ride bikes into town with me, I may be using the bike more for grocery shopping trips. I only use the front massive rack to carry anything still.
My one, fairly recent-ish complaint: it doesn't handle the Utah Rocky Mountain winters very well! Really, I only had three or four days this past winter that I would rather have had a different set of wheels, so it's not bad. I also got a bit of rust from the salted roads, and I'd rather not risk any more. So, I think I'll have to find some other solution for this coming winter.
